Reviews of Anti theft travel backpacks

Pacsafe Backpack

Pacsafe Venturesafe 15L GII

This small daypack is lightweight, considering the safety technology it contains. It has eXomesh Slashguard stainless steel wire mesh along the bottoms and about halfway up the sides to help protect from the old “slash and run” style of theft. It has “locking” zippers that are enough to deter pickpockets who may be looking for an easy mark. The Ventursafe has a nicely padded back and straps (which are adjustable), along with a handy sternum clip. Also, it has an RFID protected passport pocket.

While the Venturesafe 25L GII is a larger option, users report the straps can’t be adjusted well. The 15L seems to be a better option of these two pacsafe bags, with more adjustment options.

Pacsafe Metrosafe LS450

This back pack comes with the usual security features you’d expect from a pacsafe bag. It contains eXomesh Slashguard stainless steel wire mesh embedded into the fabric, to help prevent slash and run thefts. Additionally, flexible stainless steel wire runs through the straps for more slash proof security. It has an RFIDsafe blocking pocket. The zippers are protected with the Lockabout Security Clip and Smart Zipper Security. It also has a padded 15 inch MacBook compatible sleeve.

This backpack doesn’t have a sternum clip which can feel uncomfortable for some users, though most users report that it’s comfortable for their usage choice.

Travelon Anti Theft Bags

Top choice: Travelon Active Backpack

This backpack is great for travelers. It has a roomy main compartment, including a zippered mesh pockets and hold down straps for clothing. Additionally, it has large slots with RFID blocking technology for cards and passports, and an air mesh back panel to help keep your back cooler on hot days. The rear pocket has TWO padded pockets! One can fit a laptop up to 15.6 inches and the other is for a tablet or iPad (they call it Checkpoint-friendly). It does have a sternum strap, too, which can really help make the pack more comfortable.

The fabric is water and stain resistant (please note that water resistant is not the same as waterproof). This backpack also has slash resistant construction and straps, and locking zippers.

Travelon Anti Theft Classic Backpack

Travelon’s anti theft class backpack has all the usual security features we’ve come to expect from the brand. There are locking compartments, slash resistant body and slash resistant adjustable straps, RFID blocking card and passport slots. Additionally, there is room to hold an iPad or tablet. Users love the security features. A few think it’s too small. However, if you need a small, secure travel daypack, this backpack will fit the bill.

Travelon Anti Theft Urban Backpack

The urban is a much larger backpack offered by Travelon. It features a roomy main compartment and a fleece lined compartment for a laptop (up to 15.6 inches). The front zippered compartment is where you’ll find the slots for your cards and passport that have RFID blocking technology. Other cool features of this pocket are a tethered key clip and LED light.

However, it doesn’t say if it has slash resistant technology. It does have the zippered pockets and most people felt it suited their needs well.

The Game Theory

Top Choice: The Game Theory Backpack

The Game Theory Backpack is quite a bit different as far as anti theft backpacks go. First, its design is unique. It has no exterior facing pockets. The zipper is hidden. The hard-shell exterior is slash proof. It does have a pocket with RFID protection and also secret pockets on the arm strap. It has an external USB hub for connecting your phone to a battery pack (the battery pack does NOT come with the bag).

Other features: A laptop up to 17 inches can fit in it. The exterior is water resistant. It may be a little difficult to be quick to remove electronics, but it seems to be a sturdy and well protected bag. The manufacturer states that it is TSA approved when lying flat. Meaning, if it is open and lying flat, it eliminates the need for devices to be removed at security check-ins (your mileage may vary, as rules change regularly).

This is one secure backpack, sure to please to the most nervous of travelers (like me).

Conclusion

Give yourself some peace of mind as you head out into the world with a pickpocket proof backpack. Don’t lose your important documents, credit cards, and expensive electronics. Sometimes, just the added time it would take a pickpocket is enough of a deterrent for them to choose someone else. Whether you are looking for a large secure backpack or a small travel backpack, you can find it!
